UHMW-PE Sheet Applications
UHMW-PE sheet is a high-performance polymer sheet manufactured from ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene through specialized processes. Its ultra-long molecular chains grant exceptional wear resistance, impact resistance, low friction coefficient, and chemical inertness, combined with lightweight and non-toxic properties. Widely used in demanding industrial, medical, and sports equipment applications, it serves as an ideal replacement for traditional metals and conventional plastics.
- Industrial equipment: conveyor linings, gears, guide rails, bearing bushings.
- Mining: mining screens, chute linings, to resist ore impact wear.
- Logistics warehousing: shelf rails, and sorting line slides, to reduce friction noise.
- Sports equipment: skis, sled bottoms.
- Food processing: cutting boards, and conveyor belts, to avoid metal contamination.
UHMW-PE Sheet Features
Renowned for its exceptional versatility in replacing metals and ceramics, this material is often hailed as the “King of Engineering Plastics.” With its remarkable combination of metal-like wear resistance and ultra-lightweight properties, it has earned the nickname “Plastic Steel.”
- Excellent wear resistance: wear resistance is more than 10 times that of steel and 5 times that of ordinary polyethylene, suitable for high wear environments.
- Superior sliding properties and self-lubricating behavior: make it ideal for applications requiring smooth and durable movement.
- Extremely low friction coefficient: close to polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), self-lubricating, reducing equipment operation resistance.
- Strong impact resistance: It can maintain toughness even at extreme temperatures from -200°C to +80°C and withstand repeated impacts.
- Chemical stability: It is resistant to acids, alkalis, salts, and most organic solvents (except strong oxidizing acids such as concentrated nitric acid).
- Lightweight and high strength: The density is only 0.93-0.94 g/cm³ (lighter than water), and the tensile strength is as high as 30-40 MPa.
- Hygiene and safety: It is non-toxic, odorless, meets FDA standards, and is suitable for food and medical fields.
